One of three in a series by artist Justin Sullivan of Black Atlas, this piece explores the primal nature of both fire and mark making:
 
“I love the japanese process of shou sugi ban, which is the scorching of the surface of wood paneling to create this amazing texture. It seems to refer visually to great expanses of cracked dry lake beds and the remains of forest fire. I often incorporate this concept of destruction as creation into many of my projects.”
 
FEATURES
Minky is hand carved from Suar wood at the Blamo workshop and customized by hand in The Black Atlas Atelier Los Angeles. He stands approximately 7.5″ tall and comes in a hand-made box.
